President's Message
Dear Chattanooga Chapter Members,
As you know, our fiscal year ends with the upcoming March meeting. I distributed my written annual chapter report to those attending the February chapter luncheon. I believe we have had a very successful year: we met or exceeded a number of goals that we set for ourselves, both financially and operationally. The credit goes to the entire board, committee chairs and committee members. Each person expended a significant amount of effort on necessary behind-the-scenes work to make all of our activities this year a success. Special recognition goes to:
Our CPE speakers. They all did a great job this year! The free afternoon CPE was a big hit. It was our most highly-attended program with 172 professionals present.
The Young CPAs. Their efforts cut across several chapter initiatives: Ronald McDonald House, the Tommy Randolph Memorial Golf Tournament, CPA career awareness activities at colleges and universities and, in a more relaxed sense, their own social networking, supported by our chapter. The group - and their activities - has grown. Consider this an invitation to all young CPAs - come on out and take part in the chapter work and socializing done by your young colleagues!
John Houston for his unexpected back-to-back CPE home runs in November and December. And thanks also to John Henegar, for his repeated afternoon CPE appearances in December.
This past month Henry Hoss took on the task of putting together our bi-annual IRS Panel- Open Forum with CPAs. Thanks to the representatives from the IRS for taking time to participate in this meaningful and informative event. Yes, this meeting went very well, but it is just one of a great number of things Henry has done for our chapter, our community and our state society of CPAs. Please thank Henry for all he does for us the next time you see him. And finally, thanks to all of you for giving me the opportunity to serve as your president this past year. It’s all about teamwork - a good time spent with good people!
Warm regards,
Tom Gavin
