The New Ethics CPE Requirement: Are
You Ready?
The Tennessee State Board of Accountancy has enacted a rule which
requires four hours of ethics CPE within the two-year renewal
period. The ethics CPE is part of the 80 hours that are
required biennially. The Ethics CPE
Rule will be phased in as follows:
Those renewing at Dec. 31, 2008, should remember that at least one hour must be a state-specific ethics course that has been approved by the Board of Accountancy. The remaining general requirement can be satisfied by taking an ethics course from any vendor who would normally be accepted by the board.
Tennessee licensees
who are residing in other states can renew, as long as they have met
their resident state’s ethics CPE requirements. If the resident state
has no ethics CPE requirement, then the licensee must comply with the
Tennessee rules on ethics CPE.
As this rule is phased in, the board staff is available to assist you.
Please call 1-888/453-6150 or 615/741-2550 if you have any questions.
