Chapter Members,

We had a very good August Chapter meeting. Special thanks to TSCPA Chair Andy Bonner for keeping us up-to-date with the society’s issues and efforts. Being busy CPAs, it is easy to forget what an important and often behind-the-scenes role TSCPA plays in our profession.

 As September rolls around, many CPAs start checking their mental calendar for things that they want or need to get done by the end of the year. One of those items on that calendar is usually CPE, especially the ethics CPE that all Tennessee CPAs are required to complete. Once again, the West Tennessee Chapter is pleased to provide the CPE to meet your ethics requirement, so join us on September 7 to get it knocked out. Jim Myers will once again be speaking, and breakfast will be available.

Looking ahead, our October meeting will be our annual Student Night, where we invite area college students to come learn more about the profession and network with those of us who are working in the profession.

Jim Myers is a CPA with more than 35 years experience working in CPA firms (Big 8 to small firms), as a CPA firm partner for 15 years, as a corporate controller, senior vice president and accounting department director for a bank, financial director for a non-profit organization, and bank internal auditor.

Myers is a member of the AICPA, TSCPA and several other local and regional organizations. He currently serves as Treasurer of TSCPA. He has been a speaker for continuing education courses for the AICPA, TSCPA, Georgia Society of CPAs, North Carolina Association of CPAs, and the Tennessee Association of Public Accountants. He co-authored the TSCPA ethics training course for Tennessee CPAs.

Myers is a graduate of Carson-Newman College and is a member of the college's alumni board. He is also a board member for Teen Center of Knoxville, Inc.
