Located in Asheville, N.C., with a scenic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains as a backdrop, The Omni Grove Park Inn offers a relaxing environment where you can unwind after taking CPE courses from top-rated instructors.

This year’s agenda includes eight hours of in-person CPE including an accounting and auditing update, state specific ethics, federal tax update, and a professional issues update presented by AICPA Chairman Bill Reeb. Speakers

William L. Reeb, CPA, CITP, CGMA

Bill has been consulting for three decades to all sizes of businesses, from Mom and Pop operations to Fortune 100 companies, primarily in the areas of strategy, leadership and change management. He decided to add the credentials of CPA behind his advisory work and became a CPA in 1986. Prior to his life as a CPA, he worked for IBM in sales back in the late 70’s. As an entrepreneur, Bill has founded seven small businesses, he had two ladies clothing stores, one retail computer software store, a software development firm, a computer consulting firm, a CPA firm, and his current management consulting firm Succession Institute, LLC.

As an award-winning public speaker, Bill lectures throughout the U.S. and Canada to thousands of executives and CPAs each year. In addition, he has been featured on numerous video-taped and live television programs. As an award-winning author, Bill is internationally published with hundreds of articles and columns to his credit. He currently authors a bi-monthly column called “In the Bill-iverse” which is distributed by a number of State CPA Societies as part of their Practice Management e-newsletter. Besides being published by various magazines, journals and newspapers, Bill and his partner Dom have co-authored two books on Succession titled Securing the Future: Building Your Firm’s Succession Plan with its companion field guide called, Securing the Future: Implementing Your Firm’s Succession Plan. He and his partner also co-authored the Succession Resource Center website materials for PCPS in 2008 and the fourth edition of their consulting book called Becoming A Trusted Business Advisor: How to Add Value, Improve Client Loyalty, and Increase Profits. Finally, Bill’s newest book is titled The Overachiever’s Guide to Getting Unstuck: Replan, Reprioritize and Reaffirm. All of their books have been published by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (the AICPA).

Bill is an active volunteer within his profession having served in many leadership roles. He is currently the Chair of the AICPA, as past and current member of the Board of Directors and Council, and past Commissioner on the National Accreditation Commission. He also serves as an advisory board member to several organizations (i.e., CPAFMA, KROST CPAs, etc.)

Bill has been honored by being named as a CPA Ambassador, was presented the Pathfinder Award and served as the Texas Vision Delegate. Accounting Today has recognized his efforts by listing him as one of the Top 100 Most Influential CPAs, CPA Magazine has named him as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners, and Inside Public Accounting has listed him as one of the top 10 most recommended CPA firm consultants.

Jennifer Louis, CPA

Jennifer F. Louis, CPA, has more than 14 years of experience in designing and instructing high-quality training programs. In 2003 she joined Emergent Solutions Group, LLC, a consortium of professionals serving organizations on a project- or part-time basis to create a division dedicated to training services.

Most recently, Ms. Louis was executive vice president / director of training services at AuditWatch, Inc., a premier training and consulting firm serving the audit profession. She began her career at AuditWatch as vice president of product development. Before joining AuditWatch, Ms. Louis was the financial / operational audit manager at AARP.

Ms. Louis also was an audit manager for Deloitte & Touche LLP. During her years at Deloitte & Touche's Washington D.C. office, she was a frequent local and national instructor. She also served as an instructor for the firm's national "Train the Trainers" program.

Ms. Louis graduated summa cum laude from Marymount University with a BBA in accounting. She is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the American Society for Training & Development, and is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Perry G. Moore, CPA, CGMA, CIA

Dr. Perry Moore is Professor of Accounting and Director of Graduate Business at Lipscomb University in Nashville. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Internal Auditor, a Chartered Global Management Accountant, and is Certified in Risk Management Assurance. A Nashville native, Perry graduated from Lipscomb with a degree in accounting and then completed his graduate studies at the University of Alabama and the University of Georgia.

For the Tennessee Society of CPA’s, Perry is a member of their Professional Ethics and Accounting Career Education Committees. Perry has also directed their “Accounting Academy”, a program designed to attract high school students to accounting careers.

Perry is active in the Institute of Internal Auditors. He has served as a Past-President of their Nashville Chapter. Perry is also a Past-President of Delta Mu Delta, an international honor society for business majors.

Perry provides training for CPAs across the state of Tennessee on Professional Ethics. He serves as a member of the CPE Standards Working Group for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA). In 2015, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs honored Perry with their International Teaching Excellence Award. He has also received teaching awards from the Tennessee Society of CPAs, Lipscomb University, and the University of Georgia.

J. Patrick Garverick, CPA, MT, CFP

Pat Garverick is a Certified Public Accountant who currently lives in the Phoenix, Arizona area. He began his career in public accounting in 1988 after obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) in Accounting from The Ohio State University. After receiving his Master of Taxation (MT) degree from Arizona State University in 1992, Mr. Garverick began operating his own tax and financial planning business. He also started writing, reviewing, and teaching tax and financial planning continuing professional education courses around the country.

In addition to being a CPA, Pat is also a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®). This role serves to enhance the knowledge he brings as he writes and presents continuing education material. Mr. Garverick is a member of the Arizona Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Pat has presented continuing education sessions throughout the country and has won awards for both his skills as an instructor as well as for the content he has created. His knowledge, expertise, and high energy have made him one of the profession’s most highly rated speakers. He is in a very small group of instructors that are both extremely knowledgeable and interesting.

During his time in college Pat earned a letter as a member of the Ohio State Basketball squad. He remains a stanch supporter of the sports programs at his alma mater.
