TSCPA invites you to join your fellow members at The Omni Homestead Resort on June 13-16, 2022 for TSCPA’s 91st Annual Meeting and Convention. Located in Hot Springs, Virginia, the resort has been a destination for 23 U.S. presidents and spans more than 2,000 acres of picturesque landscape. It features a variety of amenities so you can relax after your day of CPE and networking.

Rachel Dresen

Rachel Dresen is a Director of Congressional and Political Affairs at the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), a position she has held since 2013. In this role, she is responsible for advocating on behalf of the accounting profession before Congress and the Administration.

Prior to joining the AICPA, Rachel worked for Members in the U.S. House of Representatives for nearly ten years. In that capacity, she served as the Legislative Director to Congressman Ron DeSantis (FL-06) and to Congressman Ben Quayle (AZ-03). In these positions she managed all legislative issues and oversaw legislative staff. She has also worked on legislative issues for Representatives Jeff Flake (AZ-06) and Chris Cannon (UT-03). In addition to working on Capitol Hill, Rachel worked in the Independent Expenditures division at the National Republican Congressional Committee in Washington, DC, during the 2010 election cycle.

Rachel is originally from Rexburg, Idaho and a graduate of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

James M. Cox

James M. Cox is the associate director of state regulation and legislation at the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In this role, he assists state CPA societies and state boards of accountancy on state-level policy issues impacting the accounting profession.

Prior to joining the AICPA, Cox served as the director of state and local affairs for BOMA International, a commercial real estate trade association whose members own or manage over nine billion square feet of real estate in the United States. Cox also launched the state government affairs program for Goodwill Industries International, tracked state tobacco policy for the National Conference of State Legislatures, and started his career as a policy analyst for the Florida House of Representatives. Cox received his Bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Florida State University and holds a Master’s of Jurisprudence from Seton Hall Law School.

Jennifer Wilson

Jennifer is co-founder and partner of ConvergenceCoaching LLC, a national consulting firm that helps leaders achieve success. Named in the top ten of Accounting Today's 100 Most Influential People in Accounting, INSIDE Public Accounting's Top 10 Most Recommended Consultants, CPA Practice Advisors' Top 25 Thought Leaders and AICPA’s Top 25 Most Powerful Women in Accounting, Jennifer is an experienced change agent who has worked in both public accounting and industry.

She is a frequent speaker, writer and thought leader on topics related to leadership, the rise of the next generation and managing change within the CPA profession. She is also an avid runner, hiker, yogi, gardener, wife and mother of 3.

Clare Levison, CPA, CGMA

Clare Levison is the owner of Inspired Responsibility, a consulting company dedicated to delivering continuing education via positive messages and meaningful content that inspires change. She strives to help bridge gaps in continuing professional development with inspiring programs and meaningful experiences that deliver the message, as well as the WHY behind the message, to propel professionals from good to best.

Levison is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) and Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA) and is licensed in the state of Virginia. She has served on the Board of Directors of the VSCPA and the Board of Directors of the VSCPA Educational Foundation and currently serves as a member of the AICPA Consumer Financial Education Advocates group.

For over a decade, Levison has designed and delivered learning content for CPAs and finance professionals, including Virginia Board of Accountancy-approved ethics courses required to be taken annually by all Virginia licensed CPAs. In addition to her passion for professional ethics, Levison is a fervent financial literacy advocate. She is the author of “Frugal Isn’t Cheap: Spend Less, Save More, and Live Better” and has appeared on major radio and television networks across the country discussing personal finance. She has been a contributor to numerous publications including Family Circle, Fox Business, Glamour, Kiplinger’s, Redbook, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and U.S. News & World Report.

Richard W. Hill, CPA, CGMA

Richard W. Hill is a shareholder with Mitchell Emert & Hill, P.C. in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he serves as the firm’s managing partner and as either the in-charge or technical reviewer on each of the firm’s audit engagements. He performs peer reviews for approximately 30 CPA firms annually and has performed peer reviews since 1992.

Richard is a former member of the AICPA Peer Review Board, and currently serves its Oversight Task Force, chair of OTF from 2013-2015 and 2017. He was one of the Peer Review Board representatives on the Auditing Standards Board’s Quality Control Task Force (which issued the current quality control practice aid). He is chair of the Peer Review Committee of the Tennessee Society of CPAs (previously committee chair from 2008-2011 and chair of the East Tennessee Report Acceptance Body from 1998-2008 and June 2016 to October 2019). He also serves as a back-up technical reviewer for the TSCPA.

In June 2021, he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. He is a member of the Tennessee Tech Accounting Advisory Board and was elected as Chair in February 2021.

He is a lifelong member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church in Knoxville and the finance committee chair since 1990. Away from work, he and his wife Deanna are diehard fans of the Green Bay Packers, enjoy traveling in the US and abroad and cruising in their 1971 Buick Riviera.
