Instructors

Michael L. Gullette, CPA

Mike is Senior Vice President, Tax and Accounting at the American Bankers Association. Joining the ABA in 2009, Mike has led the Association's efforts across a range of tax and financial reporting issues with accounting standard-setters and governmental agencies and representatives worldwide. These issues include mark-to-market accounting, liquidity and interest rate risk, digital assets, and the CECL credit loss accounting standard. Mike is also a regular speaker at accounting and investor forums and has contributed to the book The New Impairment Model under IFRS 9 and CECL. He is also author of the many CECL implementation discussion papers that are available at ABA.com/CECL.

Mike also leads ABA's efforts to assess disclosure and measurement challenges to banks related to ESG topics and climate risk. As a part of this, he participates in the Value Reporting Foundation's Standards Advisory Group.

Mike has over thirty-five years of experience in various financial service industries, starting his career at EY. He has been controller of a life insurance company, CFO of an international charity and was also at the mortgage giant Freddie Mac.

Omar Hinojosa, CFA

As Managing Partner at HUB | Taylor Advisors, Omar works with institutions across the country to provide profit driven balance sheet management solutions. He began his banking career as investment and asset liability manager for several billion plus institutions in Texas and served as an Advisory Board Director for the Lone Star New Markets Fund, L.P. Omar has been a frequent speaker at various financial institution programs including the Federal Home Loan Bank System and Bank Director Magazine.

Cory R. Kronheim, CPA

Cory Kronheim is an Audit Senior Manager based out of Crowe's Franklin, TN office. He has over eleven years of experience with Crowe providing a variety of client services in financial services industry. His experience includes banking clients ranging from $100 million to over $20 billion in assets, and financing companies averaging $150 million in assets. He also has deep specialization in auditing financial institution mergers and acquisitions and SOX 404 internal control audits.

Jon Goodson

Jon has 24 years of insurance experience both as a Broker and Consultant. He has been with Financial PSI ( Wholly owned subsidiary of the TN. Bankers Association) for 15 years serving the needs of not only Tennessee Banks, but surrounding states. Jon and his team currently work with over 100 banks helping them with all their insurance needs.

Jon graduated with a degree in broadcast communications from the University of Arkansas in 1989 and lives in Milan TN with his wife Jennifer, Son – Jake and Daughter – Julianna.

Keith Prather

Keith Prather is a Managing Director and Co-founder of Armada Corporate Intelligence. During his 22 years with Armada, he has provided corporations with market intelligence and analysis covering domestic and global economics, geopolitics, raw material and supply chain developments, environmental impacts and other factors that affect the corporate operating environment.

Lisa M. Brooks, CPA

Ms. Brooks has over 18 years of experience with Crowe (and more than eight years of prior experience with both local and national firms), providing tax services to clients in the banking industry.

At Crowe, Ms. Brooks oversees the day-to-day delivery of tax provision, consulting and compliance services. She consults on tax accounting issues, including mergers and acquisitions, establishing and reversing valuation allowances, tax credits, stock based compensation, etc. and also consults on tax technical issues, including accounting method changes, taxation of equity compensation, taxation of executive compensation, taxation of derivatives and hedges, etc.
