Instructors

Sam Paganelli, CFA

Sam is a CFA Charterholder and Associate Advisor at Rather & Kittrell. He graduated from the University of Tennessee with an accounting degree in 2018. During his time at UT, Sam was a member of the Global Leadership Scholars program and the Chancellor's Honors Program. Sam spent three years in finance at Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) before transitioning to Rather & Kittrell in June 2021. Sam wanted to change careers to pursue his passion for helping people with their finances. He believes a solid financial plan can provide peace of mind and clarity for clients, and he is excited at the opportunity to serve families in East Tennessee and beyond.

Sam graduated from Maryville High School and has lived in Maryville his whole life. His wife Claire, is a CPA and tax accountant. Sam enjoys chess, basketball, improving at golf, watching football, and spending time with his wife outside of work.

Nathan Woods, CFP, AIF

Nathan is a Senior Advisor with Rather & Kittrell where he works with businesses, families, and individuals to implement, coordinate, and achieve their financial goals. He began with the company in 2020 as an Advisor.

Nathan received a Master's in Business Administration and undergraduate degrees in Finance and Accounting from the University of Tennessee at Martin. He is also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER professional and Accredited Investment Fiduciary. Nathan is active in his community and serves on boards of the Great Smoky Mountain Council - Boy Scouts of America, The First Tee of Greater Knoxville, and Cancer Support Community of East Tennessee.

Julie E. Hayes

Julie Hayes is a Senior Manager in Accounting & Assurance at Coulter & Justus, PC. She joined the firm in 2010 after receiving her B.S. in Business Administration and Masters of Accountancy from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Julie manages financial and compliance audits as well as providing other accounting assistance for clients in a variety of industries, including local governments, construction and government contractors, and nonprofit organizations.

Julie is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). She is a Past President of the Knoxville Chapter of the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accounts (TSCPA).

Ronald Klein, J.D., CFE

Klein has been with CAMICO since its inception in 1986 and managed the claims department for 20 years. In his current role, he leverages his extensive knowledge and expertise of CPA professional liability issues to help CAMICO policyholders practice sound risk management, which can help them avoid or mitigate claims. He also serves as a resource to CAMICO staff.

Klein is a frequent speaker, and his primary responsibilities include risk management-focused CPE (through both webcasts and speaking events), and developing loss prevention content and tools for policyholders.

Educated as an accountant and attorney, Klein holds a BS in Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Juris Doctor from Southwestern University in Los Angeles. Prior to joining CAMICO, he was a controller, a practicing attorney, and a vice president of finance in the real estate syndication industry. Klein is a Certified Fraud Examiner and co-author of the book CPA's Guide to Effective Engagement Letters.
