Chapter Meeting and Future CPA Night - Oct. 22

Join the Memphis Chapter on Oct. 22 for a chapter meeting and Future CPA Night at Hilton Memphis. The event will feature afternoon CPE, followed by dinner and a panel discussion. You will have the opportunity to connect with local accounting students, as well as celebrate chapter scholarship recipients and recognize those who have recently passed the CPA Exam. Don’t miss the chance to welcome the future of our profession!

Instructors

Jeff Barnes, AIFA, CFP, CEBS

Jeff is a vice president and retirement plan consultant with the Retirement & Investment Solutions practice of CBIZ, Inc. He works with plan sponsors to help them meet their organization's retirement plan goals and manage the personal liability associated with being a fiduciary to a qualified plan. He provides consulting services to private and public companies, as well as not-for-profit organizations.

Jeff has been featured in several regional publications including the Memphis Business Journal and the Mississippi Lawyer Journal.

Jeff is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), an Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst (AIFA) and a Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS).

Jennifer S. Kiesewetter, J.D.

Jennifer Kiesewetter's practice primarily focuses on employee benefits law encompassing qualified and nonqualified employee benefit plans; employee benefit plan regulatory compliance and governance with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 ("ERISA") and the Internal Revenue Code. Other focuses include negotiations with the Department of Labor, the Internal Revenue Service and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation. She also focuses on health care reform, cafeteria plans, fringe benefit plans, executive compensation plans, deferred compensation (including Section 409A compliance), stock plans, employee stock ownership plans ("ESOPs"), 457 plans, 403(b) plans, governmental plans and OPEB trusts. Kiesewetter represents employers, plan administrators, plan sponsors and insurers in cases involving disputed benefit claims, ERISA preemption and fiduciary duty issues. She is admitted to practice before all Federal District Courts in Tennessee, Arkansas and Mississippi as well as the United States Courts of Appeals in the Sixth, Seventh and Eighth Circuits.

Kiesewetter is an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where she teaches employee benefits law. She is a member of the Leadership Memphis Executive Class of 2013 and was also a mentor for the Memphis Institute for Leadership Education, MILE Class of 2010-11. She is a member of the board of directors for Pink Eagles and of Healthy Memphis Common Table, where she also serves on the audit committee. She is a past member of the Leo Bearman, Sr., American Inns of Court.
