July 6, 2023

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Ray Adams, CPA, of Greeneville, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (TSCPA) 2023 TSCPApex Lifetime Achievement Award.

The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given in recognition of a TSCPA member who has exhibited leadership, made significant contributions to the profession and had an outstanding record of service to the society and the local community.

A TSCPA member and a CPA since 1966, Adams has served as a leader in the society for nearly 60 years. Serving in various roles such as Appalachian Chapter President, TSCPA Council member, and on committees including Legislation, Nominating, and Scholarship, Adams’s service and dedication to TSCPA has provided a roadmap for society leaders following in his footsteps.

A pillar of the Greeneville community for decades, Adams opened his practice there in 1973. Three years later, Loren Plucker joined as partner, and Adams and Plucker CPAs has been in business ever since. Adams’s list of contributions to the Greeneville community is lengthy. He has served as board chair of Greeneville City Schools, is a founding member and past chair of the Laughlin Health Care Foundation, and is a founding member and current treasurer of the Greene County Emergency Communications District. Adams has received several awards in recognition of his community service over the years.

His nominator says, “Ray is 85 years young. He still tries to work as much as he can to help his clients and our community.”
