Blankenship Receives Lifetime Achievement Award From Tennessee Society of CPAs

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Claude Blankenship, CPA, of Brentwood, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (TSCPA) 2023 TSCPApex Lifetime Achievement Award.

The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. The Lifetime Achievement Award is given in recognition of a TSCPA member who has exhibited leadership, made significant contributions to the profession and had an outstanding record of service to the society and the local community.

A TSCPA member and a CPA since 1969, Blankenship has served as a leader in the society for over 50 years. Serving as TSCPA Board Chair in 1986 and 1987, as a member of TSCPA Council, in multiple leadership roles for the Nashville Chapter, and on many committees, Blankenship has worked tirelessly to better TSCPA and the accounting profession. In addition to his service with the society, Blankenship has served on the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Council as well as the AICPA's Executive Committee for Private Companies Practice Section.

During his career, Blankenship started two firms in the Nashville area. In 1982, after 12 years, Blankenship, Summar and Associates merged with the Nashville office of Touche Ross. He started his second firm in 1992; 27 years later, Blankenship CPA Group employs over 100 professionals in seven offices. In addition to his professional achievements, Blankenship has served on numerous boards of directors of Middle Tennessee nonprofits, served as a director on the board of a New York Stock Exchange-publicly traded company and a member of that board's audit committee, is active in Christian ministry and mentors younger accounting professionals.
