Please join the West Tennessee Chapter for our May meeting. Joel Freund, Supervisory Special Agent with the FBI will present Financial Crimes.
$25 fee for members. $30 fee for non-members.
• Overview of all types of fraud the FBI investigates, such as, Health Care, Mortgage, Corporate & Accounting, Securities and Commodities, Insurance and Identity Theft.
• What you can do to prevent becoming a victim from frauds and scams.
o Proactively protect yourself and ways to report fraud if you unfortunately do become a victim
• Insight into FBI jobs, requirements, disqualifiers, recruitment and how accounting professionals and others enjoy a career with the FBI.
• Look into Citizen’s Academy opportunities for experienced Community Leaders

Joel is the Supervisory Special Agent over Complex Financial Crimes and the Recruiting Supervisor for applicants and interns in the Memphis FBI Field Office. He began his career as a Special Agent with the FBI in 2006 in the San Diego Field Office. While there, Joel worked Gangs and Drugs on the East County Regional Gang Task Force. Collateral duties included a Crisis Negotiator and Fitness Advisor. Joel received certification in Emotional Intelligence Coaching in 2013. He worked for three years in Leadership Development before arriving in Memphis.
Joel earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Accounting from Auburn University and a Masters in Taxation from University of Central Florida. He obtained his CPA license in 1996 and maintains an active CPA licensee. Joel is a huge Auburn Tigers and Dallas Cowboys fan. He is also an avid runner and has completed 20+ half-marathons and three marathons. He enjoys spending his free time with his family doing outdoor activities.Back to Instructors
