Brown Receives CPA of the Year Award From Tennessee Society of CPAs
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Marty Brown, CPA, of Knoxville, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of CPAs’ (TSCPA) 2025 TSCPApex CPA of the Year Award.
The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. The CPA of the Year Award recognizes a CPA who has made outstanding contributions toward advancing the accounting profession.
Brown’s dedication has made him a nationally recognized leader in the accounting profession and the business world. He began his career in 1985 at KPMG, receiving his CPA license two years later. In 1991, Brown was drawn to management consulting at PYA in Knoxville, where he has worked ever since. Named president of PYA in 2015, Brown has elevated the firm to national prominence. Among other accolades, PYA was named one of America’s Best Tax and Accounting Firms by Forbes. In 2024, Forbes also recognized Brown as one of America’s Top 200 CPAs in its inaugural list.
A major advocate for the next generation of CPAs, Brown currently serves on the Accounting and Information Management Roundtable of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Brown and his wife, Ann, are longtime supporters of the university and have established three endowed scholarships there for accounting and business students. A TSCPA member for 36 years, he has given back to the society by speaking at the annual Health Care Conference. Outside of the accounting profession, Brown dedicates much of his time to volunteering with many community organizations.
