Young Receives Women to Watch Award From Tennessee Society of CPAs

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Marilyn Young, CPA, of Nashville, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of CPAs’ (TSCPA) 2025 TSCPApex Women to Watch (Experienced Leader) Award.

The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. The Women to Watch Award highlights the accomplishments of women in the profession.

Young has devoted nearly her entire career to educating and developing future accounting professionals. She is currently an accounting professor at Belmont University as well as the faculty director of its Accounting Center for Excellence, which she co-founded to address the disparity between the accounting talent pipeline and industry demand. Since joining Belmont in 2001, Young has received numerous awards recognizing her as an outstanding educator. She has been the recipient of the Massey Graduate School of Business Most Inspirational Professor Award 18 times, and her work to redesign introductory principles classes was recognized as an Honorable Mention for the Bea Sanders/American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) Innovation in Teaching Award in 2007 and 2008.

Over the course of her career, Young has also been a member of the National Taxpayer Advocacy Panel, a writer for the CPA exam, and the author of numerous research articles. She has also served on the AICPA’s IRS Advocacy and Relations Committee since 2015. A TSCPA member for 20 years, Young currently serves on the TSCPA Board of Directors, the TSCPA Council and the Nashville Chapter Board.
