June 19, 2025

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Thomas Booker, CPA, of Knoxville, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of CPAs’ (TSCPA) 2025 TSCPApex Special Recognition Award.

The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. Special Recognition Awards are given to individuals who have contributed to the success of a TSCPA project or initiative.

With over two decades of TSCPA membership, Booker has been a steady leader of the Knoxville Chapter. In the role of the chapter’s Education Committee chair, which he has held since 2008, Booker spearheaded an initiative that expanded Knoxville’s professional education offerings from 33 to 55 continuing professional education hours annually. The success of the Knoxville Chapter’s professional education under Booker’s leadership led him to expand his services by assisting other chapters in booking their instructors.

Additionally, Booker spent seven years on the Knoxville Chapter board, culminating in service as president in 2010-2011. In addition to his work with the Knoxville Chapter, Booker has also been a member of the TSCPA Nominating Committee and TSCPA Council. Outside of the society, he serves as a senior tax manager for Whitlock & Company, P.C.
