June 19, 2025

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Karen Miller, CPA, of Cedar Grove, was recently presented with the Tennessee Society of CPAs’ (TSCPA) 2025 TSCPApex Special Recognition Award.

The TSCPApex Awards Program recognizes the many ways that individuals contribute significant time, energy and intellect to developing the accounting profession and fostering its success. Special Recognition Awards are given to individuals who have contributed to the success of a TSCPA project or initiative.

Miller has played a prominent role in growing the pool of potential CPAs in Tennessee for over 25 years. An accomplished leader in higher education, Miller currently holds the only fully endowed chair at Union University, where she has served as a faculty member and administrator since 1998. In addition to teaching, Miller serves as Union’s accounting discipline coordinator and accounting internship director. She also held the role of interim dean of the McAfee School of Business in 2023 and 2024.

A TSCPA member for 30 years, Miller has connected countless students with the society. Since 2009, she has served as the faculty sponsor for TSCPA’s student events at Union. Thanks to her initiative, more than 100 students attended TSCPA Discover Accounting events at Union over the last two years. Miller has also served TSCPA as a member of the Scholarship Committee. She has also held multiple leadership roles in the Tennessee Society of Accounting Educators, including as its 2016-17 president.
