Merrill Receives TSCPA John Glenn Award for Top Score on Uniform CPA Exam in Tennessee
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Society of CPAs (TSCPA) has named Lena Merrill as the recipient of the society’s John Glenn Award. Each year, the John Glenn Award honors the successful candidate who achieved the highest score on the Uniform CPA Exam in Tennessee and successfully passed all four parts of the exam on the first attempt.
A 2023 graduate from Brigham Young University (BYU), Merrill says that throughout her academic journey, the principles of accounting always resonated with her. While attending BYU, her exploration of auditing solidified her career path. During her time in school, Merrill was active in several merit-based organizations, and she also received the Brigham Young University Academic Scholarship. She graduated in April 2023 with a combined bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in accounting.
Merrill explained that she decided to take the next step and pursue CPA licensure because “I love accounting, and having the CPA license will open a lot of doors for me in my career.”
Merrill passed the Uniform CPA Exam in 2024 and currently works at KPMG in Knoxville as an audit associate.
