Staff Spotlight: Tanya Washington

September 15, 2025

TSCPA recently welcomed its newest staff member, Tanya Washington, who will serve the society as program support coordinator, providing logistical and administrative support for student and emerging professional and other outreach programs.

Tanya says that her recent experience as a training specialist and executive coach paved the way for her role at TSCPA. “This position allows me to perform meaningful work while navigating the joys and challenges of the sandwich generation,” she says. “It’s especially rewarding to be close to the field my daughter has chosen.”

Outside of work, Tanya serves as board chair for the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center in Nashville. “With 56 years of experience, the organization serves over 18,000 patients and trains over 200 health care professionals each year,” she says. “Dr. Matthew Walker Sr. was an extraordinary man and doctor, and I encourage everyone to learn about him and the incredible legacy our center upholds.”

Born and raised in Nashville, Tanya earned her bachelor’s degree in aeronautical and industrial technology, a master’s degree in business administration, and a graduate certificate in public administration/executive leadership from Tennessee State University. “I met my husband, Andrayus, in a graduate marketing class,” she recalls. “We have been married for nearly 20 years and have four children – two girls and two boys – each unique in their own beautiful way.”
