Gov. Bill Lee Designates November as Accounting Opportunities Month in Tennessee
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Tennessee Society of CPAs (TSCPA) is pleased to announce that Gov. Bill Lee has signed a proclamation designating November as Accounting Opportunities Month in Tennessee to raise awareness of the value of the profession and the career opportunities available in accounting.
For the past several years, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and state CPA societies, including TSCPA, have collaborated in November to spread awareness about accounting career opportunities and engage the next generation of accounting professionals. Throughout November, TSCPA members visit schools across the state to share with students how a degree in accounting can open doors to many different career pathways. Since the program’s inception, TSCPA has reached over 2,000 students in Tennessee.
“I’m thrilled to have Governor Lee’s support of Accounting Opportunities Month in our state,” said TSCPA President/CEO Kara Fitzgerald, CPA, CGMA, CAE. “As our profession continues to change, it’s critical that we communicate to students and the public the value CPAs provide to Tennesseans. Accounting Opportunities Month is a wonderful way for TSCPA members to show students the impact they can make with a career in accounting.”
