August 3, 2018

In what has become one of the most attention-grabbing elections in recent Tennessee history, the primary elections were held on Aug. 2 as Republicans and Democrats chose their candidates for the November general election. One of the notable victories lies with TSCPA member Benjamin “Rush” Bricken who won the Republican primary in the race to replace Judd Matheny (R-Tullahoma) in House District 47.

Bricken recently retired as the CEO of Coffee County Bank in Manchester, and he has over 30 years of previous experience in public accounting. Bricken received his undergraduate degree from Auburn and later earned his MBA from Vanderbilt. He has been a Coffee County Commissioner since 1988 and has served as Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee. Bricken has been a TSCPA member for more than 40 years and has served on TSCPA’s Board of Directors and as President of the Elk Valley Chapter.

Bricken is married to his wife Belinda and they have four children and four grandchildren. He will face the democratic nominee for the District 47 seat in the general election on Nov. 6.
