How did you hear about the TSCPA scholarship program, and why did you decide to apply?

I heard about the TSCPA scholarship program from my advisor, Dr. Julie Hyde. I decided to apply to take the opportunity to receive financial aid as I pursue my degree in accounting.

What drew you to the profession of accounting?

I took a career test to decide what profession I should take, and the result was accounting. What drew me to the profession of accounting was the detailed aspect of it. I like to be detailed, and I was pleased to know of a profession that deals with details!

What are your goals after you graduate?

After I graduate, I plan to work for a company or for my denomination in some capacity.

What is one piece of advice you would give students considering accounting as a major/career option?

I would say to them to focus on being satisfied with a well-paying, respected profession even though it does come with a lot of effort.

Where do you see yourself in your career in 10 years?

I see myself either continuing to work for a company or my church, or even starting my own business!

What is your advice to students on maintaining a healthy balance between school and life?

I would say to them to strive to find that balance. It is a little hard to find, but it is not impossible. If it does not work one way the first time, try again another way!

What is something most people might not know about you?

I love geography! So, I would look at tons of maps while sitting at the library when I was younger.

What three words would your friends and family use to describe you?

The three words that describe me would be compassionate, conscientious and patient.

What do you like to do in your free time to unwind/relax?

I like to play piano or watch YouTube videos on history in my free time.

What did receiving a TSCPA scholarship mean to you?

For me, receiving a TSCPA scholarship means that I do not have to worry about finances while pursuing a college education. I'm glad TSCPA has this program for students like me. It is truly a blessing.
