SEC Updates Electronic Filing Requirements

June 3, 2022

The SEC recently announced that it has adopted amendments to require the electronic filing or submission of certain documents that currently are allowed to be filed or submitted in a paper format.

The SEC stated it is making the change in an effort to promote efficiency, transparency and operational resiliency by modernizing how information is filed or submitted to the commission and disclosed to the public. Electronic filings will also be more readily accessible to the public on the SEC website in easily searchable formats.

In addition, the amendments change certain forms to require structured data reporting as well as remove outdated references.

The amendments will be published on SEC.gov and in the Federal Register. They will be effective 30 days after publication in the Federal Register.
